Position - Datacenter/Server Systems Engineer

Purpose

Work as a team member or as an individual technical consultant on implementation, enhancement and support of clients. IT/datacenter solutions. Stay current with the most recent technologies by constantly learning and immersing themselves in the technologies that embody the latest trends and proven solutions in the areas of networking, security and virtualization.

Responsibilities And Duties Include

Manage customer IT projects large and small, develop timelines, and manage resources.
Provide technical expertise to sales team to assist with project estimates and bids.
Plan short and long-term technology strategies to provide customers with the most reliable, high-performance and future-proof infrastructure as possible to ensure optimal return on investment.
Implement technology solutions for customers including, but not limited to, custom software, network monitoring tools, virtualization environments, servers, routers, switches, firewalls and storage area networks.
Troubleshoot live/in-production systems.
Identify required and proactive maintenance work.
Configure, maintain and troubleshoot Microsoft Active Directory and Windows Server 2003/2008 systems.
Write scripts in a variety of languages, such as batch, bash, VBscript and powershell, to streamline system administration.
Troubleshoot computer hardware ranging from workstations to enterprise class server systems.

Credentials and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems OR
IT related Associate's degree with 4 or more years of relevant work experience
Experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Windows Server 2003/2008
Excellent written/oral communication and customer-interaction skills
Self-motivated and able to manage time effectively

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The following skills are preferred, but not required:

Cisco certifications CCNA, CCNP, etc
VMware certifications VSP, VTSP, VCP, etc
Microsoft certifications, MCSA, Exchange, etc
Linux/UNIX experience/certifications
SAN experience/certifications
C/C++/C#/Java development experience

Special Requirements

Some use of personal vehicle
Occasional off-peak work hours

Work Environment

This position requires in office work as well as on-site work at client locations with varied office environments.
